On July 11, 2017 Chief Mark A. Toomey recognized and commended Sgt. Ryan Sheehan, Cpl. Eric Sauermelch, Officer Michael Sheehan, and Officer James Rosser for their prompt response to a medial emergency. Their team work and skilled application of life saving procedures save a life in peril and protected a defenseless child.

Facts:

On March 6, 2017 the above mentioned officers responded to the area of 1123 S. Collegeville Road for a reported unknown medical emergency. Upon their arrival, they observed an unconscious male in the driver's seat of a vehicle and a baby in a rear car seat.

The vehicle was partially blocking the south bound lane, the engine was running and the gear was in neutral. After putting the vehicle in park and turning off the ignition, the officers determined that the driver was suffering from an opioid overdose. Narcan was administered to the unconscious male and he regained consciousness.

Both the male and the four month old daughter were taken to the hospital for treatment. The male has been charged with DUI, Child Endangerment, and related offenses.
