- When will I receive a sewer bill?
-
Sewer bills are mailed in April and November of each year. Sewer bills mailed in April are for the period including the 4th quarter of the prior year and 1st quarter of the current year. Sewer bills mailed in November are for the period including the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the current year.
- Does my mortgage company pay my sewer bill?
-
Most mortgage companies do not pay sewer bills from your mortgage escrow account. This is a utility, not a tax.
- How much will my sewer bill be?
-
Residential sewer service is billed at a flat rate of $173.00 per six-month period regardless of water usage.
Non-residential sewer service is billed based on water usage at a rate of $242.00 for the first 36,500 gallons of water usage per six month period plus $6.63 for each additional 1,000 gallons of water.
- Why does my bill say it is for the previous six-month period?
-
Upper Providence Township back bills for sewer usage on a semi-annual basis.
- I did not own my property for all of the previous year. Why did I receive a bill for the entire year?
-
Sewer bills are pro-rated at settlement by the title company, this information is provided in a Sewer Certification provided by the billing administrator (Berkheimer). Because we back bill, the seller should give the buyer their portion of the sewer bill due for the current period at settlement. The new owner will receive and pay the bi-annual bill when sent for that period - you should check your settlement sheet to make sure this did happen. If you have questions or concerns, you should call the title company for assistance
- I sold this property, what should I do with the bill?
-
Because we do not always get title transfers before the sewer bills are mailed, we do not always have the proper names and mailing addresses for our sewer bills. Please return the notice to Berkheimer stating you are no longer the property owner, and include the new owner's name, if you know it.
- My name and/or mailing address have changed and I did not get a bill. What should I do?
-
Call or email Berkheimer and ask for a reprint of your bill. Failure to receive a bill does not forgive your sewer rent due. It is the responsibility of the property owner to notify Berkheimer of any change of address. Sewer bills are mailed to the last known address for each property. Sewer bills are processed by Berkheimer, their phone number for payments is 866-225-8451, and their website is https://customer.hab-inc.com/pub . For more information, there is also a customer care form at https://www.hab-inc.com/contact-customer-care-form-individual/ .
- How long do I have to pay my bill?
-
Sewer bills are due 30 days after the billing date. This date will be printed on the bill.
- What happens if my payment is late?
-
A penalty will be added to the amount due if your payment is late. Payments must be received by the due date to avoid penalty.
- What if I do not pay my sewer bill?
-
If sewer bills become past due, the property owner will be sent a reminder letter. If payment is not received, a Municipal Lien will be filed against the property and Judgment will be entered in Montgomery County District Court against the owner. Additional charges for filing fees will be added to the property account. The Lien and Judgment will stay in place until the account is paid in full. Past due balances will be turned over to Portnoff Law Associates for collection. Portnoff Law Associates: 866-211-9466 or propertyowner@portnoffonline.com.
