At the UPT Board of Supervisors Meeting held on July 21, Fire Chief Mike Risell, Friendship Ambulance Chief George Gilliano and Police Chief Mark Freeman presented Lifesaving Awards to several members of Friendship Ambulance and UPT Police.
At the UPT Board of Supervisors Meeting held on July 21, Fire Chief Mike Risell, Friendship Ambulance Chief George Gilliano and Police Chief Mark Freeman presented Lifesaving Awards to several members of Friendship Ambulance and UPT Police.
On May 14, 2025, UPT Police Corporal John Oliveri and UPT Police Officer Joseph Mangano were dispatched to a residence in Upper Providence Township following an Apple Watch automatic fall detection alert. Officer Mangano arrived first and located the patient semi-responsive on the floor inside of the residence and requested EMS. As EMS was arriving with Cpl Oliveri, the patient went into cardiac arrest.
Paramedic Ben Stoudt and AEMT Evan Patrick from Friendship Ambulance immediately initiated CPR while Cpl Oliveri and Ofc Mangano assisted the EMS team with other life support activities.
The rapid response, coordination and professional action resulted in the successful resuscitation of the patient.
Thankfully, following surgery, the patient made a full recovery and was able to celebrate with the first responders Monday night at the meeting.
