CHANGES TO EMS SERVICE IN UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP
Beginning on June 1st, 2022, Upper Providence Township has made the decision to partner with Friendship Ambulance, a division of the Royersford Fire Department, to provide a full time (24/7/365) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance based out of the Township’s Central Fire & Emergency Services Station.
Upper Providence Township has made public safety a priority and continues to reevaluate and improve service delivery on an ongoing basis. This unit will improve response times to medical emergencies in the Township and will mark the first time in history that an ambulance will be physically based in Upper Providence.
Trappe Fire Company Ambulance and Lower Providence Ambulance will continue to serve portions of Upper Providence Township, aligning with our goal of having the closest ambulance available dispatched to emergencies. The Upper Providence Department of Fire and Emergency Services (UPDFES) will continue to provide Basic Life Support quick-response services to further reduce the time between someone dialing 911 and receiving emergency medical assistance.
Beginning in September 2022, the UPDFES will staff an engine that will be in service 24 hours per day, 365 days per year providing immediate assistance to those in need of fire, rescue, and emergency medical aid. Currently, UPDFES staffs a fire engine from 6am to 6pm, 7 days per week with 4 career Firefighter/EMTs.
